Nasty vog.

Things have been a bit crazy around here and I’ve gotten a little bit behind on things. I forgot to post about the bracelet I made during a Wire Play Day studio at The Bead Gallery that I took about two weeks ago.

It’s called Donuts and Danishes and it’s designed by Jamie Yoshida.

I wanted to antique the bracelet, but my mother stole it from me. It looks like I’ll have to make another for myself. I’ll definitely antique the second one, because I think it looks beautiful that way. You can see Jamie’s antiqued version here.

Now if I could just get the wire mojo going so I can actually make the thing.

My mojo has been seriously impaired, you see. The vog has been thick and nasty the past few days and it looks like it won’t be going away anytime soon. It could be worse, but it’s also been humid and hot.

Here’s a photo of what it was like yesterday.

All that haze is playing havoc with my sinuses and I had a screaming headache last night. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t come back.

There hasn’t been much knitting going on.  Neither has there been much spinning. One thing that I have been doing is a lot of seed bead work. Those little things are addictive.

It’s a good thing I have a ginormous stash of them. But, just like any other stash, I seem to always find myself missing one or two or three colors that I absolutely must have. Since I started up again with this hobby to use up what I have, all these new acquisitions are seriously defeating the purpose.

My coffee machine broke this morning. I had a Pepsi instead. Really not the same thing. At least I don’t have a caffeine headache.

So I think I need to try and keep a low profile today and hold back my cranky self from the rest of the world.

My plans are to play with more beads, turn up the air conditioning, watch my favorite serial killer, and snorgle the cuddly Sammy.

Happy Wednesday, folks.

John Lithgow is going to be on Dexter next year. Don’t know if you are a fan. I am.

Jealous of the cute cat and the lovely beads.

  4. Dee Says:

    Hope the vog lifts soon.

The bracelet is really cool. I can see why your Mom snatched it up.

  6. Cookie Says:

Can’t you steal it back? She sleeps sooner or later, right? ;^)

    Love the kitty!

I hope the vog leaves and you get a new coffee machine soon.

    xo

    Go away, Vog.

Laptop is asking you for royalties on the photos of her you keep posting on your web site.

No coffee maker–I would be helpless.

You guys have Vog all the way up there?! I thought that was a big island/ Maui kind of thing….(shows how much I know!) Hope you feel better soon

Happy Wednesday! I really like both bracelets, the antiqued one is my favorite too. It looks kinda industrial!

  10. Stacey (just Stacey) Says:

*GASP* Your coffee maker broke. Dude! I feel soooo sorry for you. Have you ever used a french press? Your stove, microwave and water would all have to be out to not get coffee out of it. :D

  11. Hetty Says:

If my coffee maker broke I’d have no reason to get up in the morning! Hope the vog lifts soon so you can get your mojo back. I can see why your Mom stole that bracelet. It’s lovely. I like the antiqued one too. Have fun cuddling with that sweet kitty of yours.

  12. April Says:

I understand the headaches all the well. Only, instead of haze, rapid pressure changes from rain storms has been knocking me out.

    Come on clear weather!

I can definitely see why your mom took that bracelet off your hands. :)

  13. naomi Says:

oooh i love the bracelet! and i like the antiqued look too.

We haven’t seen smog, vog or ozone since we left the Midwest. Here the air is clean, and the sky is blue. Now hot is another thing. But no humidity. None. Allergies went byebye. Hope you are comfortable soon. Snorgle, snorgle.

  15. Robbyn Says:

Donuts and Danishes is a great name – one of the best! And it’s a nice piece too; I think I like the non-antiqued version best :)

Very sorry to hear about your battles with the vog. I hope things dtraighten out soon for you. I know sinus isses aren’t any fun – mine have been screaming at me all spring too. Bleah…

Sammy does look emminently snorglable, doesn’t he? Has he got a good purr? I loves me a good hefty purr – you know, when the neighbors call and complain about the noise?

  16. Carrie Says:

Where’s the vog in that picture? That looks like a beautiful clear day in Tucson. (We have no volcanos, but we have a whole state’s worth of dust. All beach, no ocean, that’s us.)
Seriously, the coffee machine is a must. On occasions when I have been without, I considered buying a french press and learning to drink it that way so there would be fewer parts to break and I could MacGuyver it if necessary.

  17. Carrie Says:

And also, FANTASTIC bracelet. Consider yourself lucky that *I* am not your mother or I would have stolen every piece you’ve made so far.

  18. Agnes Says:

It doesn’t look too bad from the photo … but if it gives you a headache, that’s bad. Wish you luck on it going away.
Not much knitting done for me too … not that I didn’t knit, just everything didn’t seem to work too well lately!
Well, let’s wish our mojo of all kings be back soon. :)

  19. Barb Says:

Love your bracelet! It’s so darn hot all I can knit is a hat.

  20. Jeanne Says:

The bracelet is beautiful – no wonder you Mom stole it! I woudl do the same thing! :-)

Sorry you aren’t feeling well – I hope you feel better soon!

  21. Knitnana Says:

Hope things are much better today!
    :)

  22. Patricia Says:

Oh, I can see why that bracelet would be stolen. It’s gorgeous.

  23. Angie Says:

You are such a marvelous wire worker! Mom knows good stuff. I hope you are feeling better. Now that I know snorgle….what is vog?

  24. textillian Says:

It took me a while of staring at the bracelet to realize that you were not using spring, but rather had wire wrapped around jumprings. (Correct?)

Sorry to hear about the vog, though every time I see the word, I automatically at “ue” to the end, and then I start thinking of Madonna. This probably doesn’t help you any, but it does get me dancing….

  25. Roseann Says:

I hope you are feeling better very soon. Your bracelet is something else, I can only imagine what you will be creating once you are back to feeling 100%. Sammy should be a cat food commercial actor, he is too cute.

  26. Carrie K Says:

Cat snorgles are the best. What’s with the headaches this last week? I had a killer one all week long. I want a do-over.

Donuts and Danishes lives up to its name by being utterly scrumptious. Antiqued it’ll look only more beautiful.

  27. JessaLu Says:

    Love the bracelet!

    Feel better…

  28. Sarah Says:

    That bracelet is gorgeous!

Vog troubles and broken coffee machine at the same time is so wrong. I hope you have all the coffee you want and are feeling better.

    Mmmmm…Dexter.

  29. Wendy M Says:

Your mom has great taste, I would steal that bracelet too.

Hope you feel better soon, vog is a bummer.

Dang, your jewelry work just gets more and more sophisticated. It’s been cool to watch as you get better and better at it!
