Remember how I was going to knit a pair of socks a month along with a few friends? Yeah. That hasn’t been working out so well.
I started a pair in February, but they’ve been tossed into the frog pond. Recently I did finish a pair of socks, but I can’t count those as part of the club since the yarn didn’t come out of one of the twelve paper bags.
Maybe what I need is a new beginning.
I’m very happy with the yarn that emerged from the random and ominous paper bag. Trekking is one of my all-time favorite sock yarns. I was a little afraid that somehow all my sock yarn had changed into something hideous while they were in the bags.
O.o
I still had a hard time casting on. I didn’t feel the sock love because I didn’t want to tear myself away from the shawls. Only I do like a portable project to take with me when I’m out and about, and socks are so convenient. So cast on I did and away I went.
I’m not so sure how much love I have for this pattern with this yarn, but there’s no way I’m frogging this baby. I do think it looks a lot better on then scrunched up the way it is.
I really doubt I’ll have this pair finished by June, but that’s okay. Megan and I gave each other a two month rule with this sock club. I think I can manage a pair of socks in two months.
That is if I can tear myself away from the shawls and the wire and the spinning fiber and the seed beads.
Yeah.
Although he cried all the way there, all the while we were in the waiting room, and all the way home, Scheyer survived the visit to the vet. Despite some gingivitis and a warning to look out for premature arthritis, he’s a healthy little guy. That reassurance makes the bruising of my eardrums worth it.
It’s the American Idol finale tonight! For all you fans out there, who do you want to win? Adam or Kris? I’m an Adam fan. Go Lambert!
Happy Wednesday!

Should I admit I don’t watch American Idol, ever? Except occasionally in the beginning of the seasons to marvel at the delusionally untalented.
Whew. Good thing your yarns weren’t being transformed in the bag. It looks good! Nice and stripey.
Glad to hear Scheyer got a (more or less) clean bill of health. It’s nice that he shares his feelings with you. Some guys don’t do that. ;)

We were so right to give ourselves two months to finish socks! It lets us indulge in our moments of startits without worry!

I don’t know, I kind of like how the yarn looks with the pattern so far. Makes me think of tropical waters. Good luck with this pair!

I’m curious to see how those socks work out since I was thinking about making that pattern with XXL Hand Art. Course, I’d have to change the pattern to be toe-up but I’m stubborn that way.
That cat looks like he’s plotting your demise. Mine would be too. :)

Fortunately, you arrived intact too! Nice socks!

The socks look very interesting! I’m curious to see how they will look when finished, I have the same yarn in my stash and I was thinking of using the same pattern for the yarn.. Good luck with your pair!
I want Adam to win! I’m a huge fan – he’s so talented!

I like the sock, it doesn’t look bad, maybe not the optimum combination, but not bad at all.

Glad to hear about the clean bill of health.
I’m another one who has never seen American Idol. It just doesn’t hole any appeal to me.

My May socks are trekking too, but I haven’t started them. :-( I can’t find my favorite 2mm circ! (Actually, that’s totally just an excuse. I’ve been knitting on a sweater.)

Whoohoo – Trekking!! What colorway? :)
And Scheyer is such a gorgeous kitty! I’m glad the vet trip was successful!
(((hugs)))

I like the dark colors in the socks. Nice and stripey. I have that book too, and there are a lot of socks I’d like to do in there. Can’t wait to see how they turned out.
I’m not sure if any of my socks “count” for the sock of the month club. I never put any of the sock skeins in a paper bag. Uh oh…. I’m disqualified!
Sorry your guy didn’t win AI. Boo Hoo.

Can I say I’m happy that Kris won? Adam is really talented but Kris is more my musical style.
I think you can finish those socks in 2 months. You just have so much talent!

I’m so glad everyone survived the trip to the vet.
It’s not a bad sock and it’s not like they can all be winners. Ya know?
Don’t get me started on AI. /sigh

I love Trekking too – its one of my favorites. Love the socks – and I like that colorway with that pattern – very nice!
Glad Scheyer (and you!) survived the vet!

I do love Trekking. It makes up a good bit of my stash!
And I am sure all of your bags contain gems, with your choice of colors….

Gee, I should have kept reading, eh? I’m glad the vet trip went as well as it did.
You won’t hear me fuss at you on the psc thing. I am woefully behind. I think your current pair will be lovely, and you will eventually be glad you stuck with them.

Repeat!!!!

I recently knit that pattern and found that I liked the look of the rib a lot better when it was stretched out on my foot. Give it a few more rounds and try it on before you lose hope!
(Ooo, and thanks for reminding me! I love(d) that paper bag idea! Maybe just the thing for Summer of Socks!)

You’ve sure been busy! Love your shawl projects; the Shetland Triangle is beautiful!
I wish I had more time to knit socks without obligations. Later this year, for sure! Great kitty pictures. : )

That sock pattern is great! I have made it with both Trekking and handspun, and both are lovely pairs of socks. They look better on the foot than off.

I gave up May and went with a new beginning myself. ;o)
