This and that.

Lately I’ve become occupied with a new obsession.  I don’t have anything to show for it yet, but maybe you can guess what it is.

Yes, those are teeny tiny seed beads! You see,  my friend Jamie at The Bead Gallery invited me to take part in one of her Needle & Thread classes. I was a little hesitant about delving into another hobby, but then I rationalized that seed beads are really just another facet of of my jewelry making.

Uh-huh.

In the meantime, I have this waiting to be plied.

This was spun from fiber for the April’s spin-along by CJ Kopec.

I really fell behind on this past month’s spin-along. I ordered both the Christopher (above) and the Midnight Desire (not picture). I have Midnight Desire spun,  but it’s still on the bobbin waiting to be wound into skeins. And, as you can see, Christopher languishes.

I did finish something though!

That’s a bracelet made with brass and sterling silver. I’d like to say I came up with this all on my own, but I got the design from Easy Wire 2007.

It’s the first time I’ve ever worked with brass and it may be the last. Brass is much harder then sterling so I had quite the time getting those coils to work. This is the project that killed my hands for about a day. Bad wire!

Finally, I tried to get a good snap for Friday’s Kitty Pr0n, but this is the best I could do.

Silly Quincy would not sit still!

Happy May Day, people. Have a great weekend!

What a lovely bracelet, Opal! And I look forward to seeing what you do with seed beads. Will you knit them into a teeny tiny purse?

Oh. My. God. STOP. JUST STOP ALL those new crafts that have been calling me but I have been successfully ignoring. STOP FOR THE LOVE OF LITTLE GREEN APPLES I DON’T HAVE TIME TO LEARN TO BEAD.
    /ahem.
Love the handspun, the bracelet, and the kitty.

The bracelet is really pretty – its too bad the brass was a pain.

  14. Carrie K Says:

The brass is beautiful, too bad it was painful.

Silly Quincy. It’s the cats job to pose for the blogs.

  15. Alison Says:

I completely sympathize with having way too many hobbies and not enough time for them all. And it’s all too easy to rationalize ;-)

The bracelet is lovely as always and I can’t wait to see what you come up with on the seed bead front.

  17. Sarah Says:

Mmmm…beads just speak to something perhaps primal within me. They are indeed the shiny I love. Enjoy your new obsession!

That is so lovely on the bobbin. I cannot wait to see the finished yarns.

At least you have a lovely bracelet to show for all of the pain, and the knowledge that brass is not the metal for your hands.

  18. Roseann Says:

Your brass bracelet is so pretty, I hope your hands are recovering. I love my new stitch markers and received compliments on my earrings when I wore them to MSWF.

  19. Daniele Says:

I can’t wait to see the new beady stuff you come up with! The bracelet looks gorgeous, even though the brass was so mean to you. :)

    Hi Quincy!

Yes, yes, yes. It is all just an extension of what you already do. Soon, you will have looms as well. And my master plan will be complete!

    The bracelet is beautiful.
