I took a custom class from The Bead Gallery on how to make better coils. Jamie came up with this design to help me practice my skills.
I don’t do many necklaces, but I had fun doing this one. I also made more bracelets this week and they’re now up in the shop.
My hand is bothering from all the wirework I’ve been doing, so I need to give it a rest. Only I’ve become obsessed. My knitting is boring me. What I have on the wheel isn’t thrilling me. The spindles aggravate the hand so that’s not an option. The only thing that makes me happy is the shiny.
It’s a good thing I ran out of wire. Now I’ll be forced to take a break.
Well, I didn’t quite run out. I just don’t have any 16g Sterling Silver. I could work with something else.
Uh-oh.
Maybe I’ll start another knitting project instead. After all, it’ll be for a good cause. I’ll be saving my hand from heavy wire bending.
Uh-huh.
Happy Friday, everyone! Have a fantabulous weekend. :)

Happy weekend to you, too! Will you be watching the Draft?
The necklace is lovely, by the way.

I am continually amazed at how you make such beautiful jewelry by hand. I hope you return to spindle spinning soon and I look forward to seeing your new knitting project.

That’s one of the most gorgeous necklaces I’ve ever seen. Really.
What do you think about 28 gauge wire rings for stitch markers? I need some seriously fine markers for my King Bat shawl. Can’t find jump rings that fine anywhere.

Beautiful necklace! I hope your hand gets better and that you can make more beautiful jewelry. The shawl is amazing – did you start it?
Have a great weekend!

The metal does do the hands in a bit – rest and you’ll be good to go. I think starting that shawl is the perfect form of rest! As always, the necklace is just lovely!

Oh the pretty necklace! Those spirals are lovely. Rest. Just rest. I always find that if I’m immersed in a good book, the knitting falls by the wayside. That lace makes my brain hurt.

Lovely work, as always. The silvwe swirls hypnotically and the purple beads are just beauriful.
Well, duh – they’re purple!
I look forward to seeing your work on/with Lyra – it’s such a magnificent piece. Will you do it in thread as a doily or in lace weight as a circular shawl? Inquiring minds, you know…
Happy Saturday!

The stones are SUCH a beautiful color.

LOVELY work as usual! Every time I see another piece, I am tempted to snatch it up for myself (which wouldn’t be the most sane thing since I have a metal allergy and couldn’t wear it!)
What are those purple beads?
Good luck w/ Lyra. Its a gorgeous bit o’ lace. Will be looking forward to blog updates as you progress!

You already know I adore the necklace. :)

First the knee, now the hand? Do we have to tie you down young lady?

Love the shiny!
Did you start the lace? :D

Lovely shiny! Are the silvery rounds beads or silver?
I hope you are feeling better!

Those are beautiful! Is there anything you can do so that your hands don’t get so beat up while crafting?

That is lovely!! I VERY like the doubled swirls… they are my faves in this creation. Happy day!

What a gorgeous necklace, Opal! Take care of those hands. What will you use to knit Lyra?
April 28th, 2009 at 9:51 am
By that, I meant yarn/thread. It was not smartass comment about hands.
