Evil camera.

I finally blocked the Swallowtail Shawl! It finally dried! I finally took pictures of it! Only my evil camera insists the thing is purple and I’m too damned lazy to fiddle with it in photoshop. I did adjust them a bit with Picknik, but the true color of the yarn isn’t showing true. The yarn is very blue.  So the edging looks like it doesn’t match the rest of the shawl, but believe me it does.

Pattern: Swallowtail Shawl by Evelyn Clark (Ravel it!)

Needles: Size US 4 / 3.5 mm

Yarn: Mystery Yarn for the body; Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud for the edging in Stream Heather

Started: March 28, 2009

Finished: April 3, 2009

Except for the stress of running out of yarn, this was a fun knit. It was fast and easy. The nupps were easy to conquer.  All in all, I think I’ll be knitting another one of these babies.

And I’ve officially run out of steam…..

It was a long weekend, folks.

Happy Monday!

Beautiful! Yeah, you’re right, your camera doesn’t capture nearly the same color as the Knitpicks website. Wow, I’d never have guessed. Either way, it’s supernice!

Very pretty. And I sympathy with the camera travails. I have the same problem, and Auto Level doesn’t always do the trick in correcting the color.

    It’s super lovely!

I’ve seen people complain about blue/purple being quite frustrating. Maybe a different background color would help?

Lovely! I’ve been feeling the itch to knit some lace, and your beautiful shawl just gave me another nudge in that direction.

It is beautiful, Opal! That is a wonderful match with the additional yarn.

I like the way the edging turned out – it really looks like a design feature, not an “oh crap what do I do now.”

  16. Alison Says:

It’s pretty even if it’s not really purple ;-)

Love, love, love the Swallowtail. Mine is in the resting phase. I, too, have found the pattern to be easy and fun. Glad to hear the nupps were easy.

Blue or purple, your Swallowtail is a delight! For some reason, even the nupps look like little jewels.

    Wow! Gorgeous!

I usually don’t care a lot for variegated yarns in lace work but that one’s beautiful! Do you suppose it works so well because it’s dark?

I admire the stuffing out of you over the whole nupps business. I suppose I’ll try them one of these days, but for now I’m staying well clear of them :) Otherwise, I think the shawl is a beautiful pattern!

What? No gratuitous kitty porn? Humph….

    I think it’s perfect!

Beautiful shawl, Opal! Color on the ‘net is frustrating but it still looks lovely.
