About

Opal is a thirty something obsessed knitter, crocheter, and spinner. She lives in a suburb of Honolulu on the island of O’ahu in Hawai’i. These days,  she also devotes much of her time to jewelry making.

In July of 2008, she opened up an Etsy shop, The Opalescence. You can find handspun yarn, stitch markers, and jewelry there.

Akamai means to think, to be clever, or to just use your common sense. It’s a Hawaiian word that’s used a lot as slang by locals. It can be used as an adjective or a verb. So the next time you want someone to think for themselves, tell them to akamai!
